New Music!

I have been in a music drought lately. It's like clothes shopping...some days you can't find anything and some days you find a million wonderful things. I haven't been able to find any good music lately, but yesterday I had a lot of good luck thanks to catching up on 5 hours of All Songs Considered podcasts on my drive home from Florida! Here is what I bought:
1. The latest Okkervil River album..The Stand Ins. I had been meaning to buy this for awhile but kept forgetting to do it. This album is really an extension of last year's The Stage Names and so far seems just as good!

2. Lambchop, OH(Ohio). Well, this is an interesting group. Kind of alternative country, kind of folk. Kind of. Really great sound...I think I am really going to like this one. And they are from Nashville. :) I can't find any links for any of these songs but one of my faves so far is Sharing a Gibson with Martin Luther King Jr.
3. The Streets, Everything is Borrowed...very cute and clever British "rap" music. Heaven for The Weather is a very cute song.

4. Rufus Wainwright, Release the Stars....more folk-y music. Going to a Town is typical of his sound.
5. Blitzen Trapper, Furr...indie pop loveliness.
Can't embed this one but here is the link. Please listen, it's very nice. :)

Music I have added to my playlist in lala.com but haven't committed to buying yet:
1. Jolie Holland, The Living and the Dead. Mexico City is a cool song but I can't decide if I should go for the whole album yet.

2. Chairlift, Does You Inspire You. So far I have added Evident Utensil because I can't help but love a song about pencils.

3. Jesus H Christ and the Four Hornsmen of the Apocalypse, Happier Than You. This album is very funny but I don't know if I would get sick of it fast. Liz the Hot Receptionist is a must listen, though:

That's it for now! No dance, techno, ambient, trance, or house music!
