I know what I want to do this weekend! I have been kicking some ideas around in my head for new playlists and I want to get started on them this weekend. I have a couple of different ones I want to make:
1. Sweating to the Oldies...a workout playlist inspired by Jeff composed of old-school techno. The kind of techno that was around when we were in high school and college, the "everything but the kitchen sink, as loud as possible" genre popularized by Prodigy. Love that stuff!
2. Ode to a Couple...the first playlist I will ever make that is inspired by a couple. For Brenda and Foxtrot, I will create a mix of songs that would make you smile even if your eyes were getting sucked out by a giant squid. Or if your depressed. Or something. Because they need something to make them smile right now.
3. Alterna-bopper. I have wanted to make a playlist like this for a long time. I made up the term alterna-bopper to describe music that is very pop-oriented by made by bands rather than manufactured entertainment projects (IOW, no NKOTB or Britney Spears, but real bands making their own music). I love this stuff...it's a guilty pleasure but not quite as bad for your sensibilities as radio pop. You won't hear this stuff on the radio but it is super-catchy and fluffy, even if the bands that make it try to pull off the alternative look and act like they are making art-rock.
So now I am excited to do some research in my iTunes library and get working!
